The National Minimum Wage Amendment Regulations come into force on 1st April 2016. After that date the rates will be:

– Age 25 plus – £7.20 per hour. This is to be known as the “National Living Wage” but in reality it is simply the new top rate of the National Minimum Wage.

– 21 – 25 – £6.70 per hour

– 18 – 21 – £5.30 per hour

– Under 18 – £3.87 per hour

– Apprentices – £3.30 per hour

The penalty for employers found not to have paid the National Minimum Wage doubles from 1st April 2016.
